This month we have worked with Anna on a logo refresh as she continues to be recognised more and more for her incredible botanical work, having just recently been pre-selected for the 200th exhibition of the Royal Society of British Artists at the Mall Galleries in London this March. What a fantastic achievement to be among 200 artists selected out of 4000 applications!

Year of the Rabbit

Each year Matt has the opportunity to design a new poster for our local chinese takeaway!

According to a web-search: Years of the Rabbit include 2023, 2011, 1999, 1987, 1975, 1963, 1951, 1939, 1927…The sign of Rabbit is a symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity in Chinese culture. 2023 is predicted to be a year of hope.The luckiest Chinese zodiac signs in 2023 are Oxes, Tigers, & Snakes. Then, with not quite so much luck, come Dogs, Horses, Goats, and Pigs. Rabbits’ and Rats’ fortunes will be influenced by ‘opposition to Tai Sui’. Roosters and Monkeys will have to work especially hard to make headway.

Design for print tip 1: Positioning is key

Whether you are ordering online or from your trusty local community printer (us!), it is likely there will be some reference to the requirement for “crops and bleed” but what does it mean and why is it needed? Crop marks show the printer where you want the material to be cut, avoiding any important information ending up in the shredder and the bleed gives leeway when trimming, to avoid any unwanted white edges. 3mm is pretty standard for bleed but always check your printer’s requirements. We also suggest that any important information is kept at least 5mm away from the edges of the artwork too to be extra safe.
