It’s Alive I tell you, Alive!

I’d really like your feedback as issue 2 is already being put together, for July, and I want every issue to have the wow factor, not just the first.

Words of Wisdom

(That We’re Actually Trying to Follow)

Our business coach (yes, we need professional help alongside other things 😊) often drops us pearls of wisdom so we thought it was about time we shared some of them with you. Introducing, Ceri James, Action Coach and owner of Mushroom Consulting (he’s the one in the middle – referencing the below photo, in case you have switched photos off 😉):
There are three frogs on a log. Two decide to jump off. How many are left? Three, because decision and action are two separate things, aswe all know from failed New Year’s resolutions. How well do you turn intentioninto action?

Time is a business owner’s most valuable resource. Managingit effectively requires a structured approach that maximizes productivity whilepreventing burnout. The following four-step framework provides a practical way to take control of your time and boost efficiency.

1. Audit How You Spend Your Time

Before making changes, you need a clear picture of how you currently use your time. Track your activities for a week—meetings, admin tasks, client interactions, and strategic planning. Identify bottlenecks and time-wasters. Are there repetitive tasks consuming hours? Are distractions derailing your focus? Recognizing these patterns allows you to make informed adjustments.

2. Plan Your Priorities

Define what matters most. Focus on high-impact tasks that drive revenue, innovation, or growth. Use tools like time-blocking or the Eisenhower Matrix to structure your schedule around priorities rather than reacting to interruptions. When you allocate time intentionally, you reclaim control over your day.

3. Delegate What You Can

You don’t have to do everything yourself. Identify tasks that someone else can handle—administrative work, customer inquiries, bookkeeping. Delegation frees up time for high-level decision-making and allows your business to function more efficiently.

4. Build Habits for Self-Discipline and Accountability

Consistency is key. Establish daily routines that reinforce discipline—ending each day with a to do list for tomorrow (so that you can come up with solutions and ideas while you sleep), setting boundaries for deep work, and taking regular breaks to maintain energy. The best time management system isn’t just about scheduling tasks, it’s about creating habits that keep you focused and effective.

Master these four elements, and you’ll transform how you manage time, leading to better productivity and business success.
